Air Fryer Whole Roast Chicken

A whole garlic roast chicken with crackling golden skin and juicy meat, cooked in the air fryer in about 45 minutes. It's simpler than oven roasting and uses less energy.
Rub it with olive oil and garlic, and it needs little else. Carve it for Sunday dinner or shred leftovers for tacos and sandwiches.
Ingredients
Instructions
Prep
Pat the chicken completely dry. Mince 2 garlic cloves and lightly crush the rest.
Season
Rub the chicken with oil, then salt, pepper and minced garlic. Slide crushed cloves under the skin of the thighs.
Roast
Preheat to 400°F. Place the chicken breast-side down in the basket and cook 25 minutes.
Flip
Flip breast-side up and cook another 20 minutes until the thickest part reads 165°F.
Rest
Rest 10 minutes before carving.
- Dry skin means crispy skin, so pat very dry.
- Check your bird fits; a 3 to 4 lb chicken suits most basket models.
- Use a thermometer; 165°F in the thigh is the target.
