Enjoy this recipe on how to make Healthy Torrijas in an air fryer. Very typical of the time and always appetizing.

Ingredients

  • A loaf of bread for torrijas
  • Half a litre of milk
  • 40 gr sugar
  • A cinnamon stick
  • Orange and lemon
  • Honey or sugar
  • Two eggs

Steps

  1. First put the milk in a saucepan with the sugar, orange peel, lemon peel and cinnamon stick, cook for a few minutes and set aside to cool.
  2. Cut the loaf into slices of a certain thickness so that it does not break when soaked in milk.
  3. Once the milk is lukewarm, pour it into a tray and place the slices of bread in it so that they soak, one side and then the other.
  4. Beat the eggs in a bowl and, taking care not to break the eggs, coat the slices of bread in batter, placing them in the basket of the fryer, always using baking paper so that they do not stick to the bottom.
  5. Set at 180 degrees for 12 minutes
  6. Take out the basket and turn each torrija over, always being very careful as they are tender, then cook for a further 10 minutes.
  7. Check that they are golden brown and place in a serving dish.
  8. You can decorate with a honey or sugar syrup, depending on your taste.
  9. The syrup is prepared with half a glass of honey to which we add 2 or 3 tablespoons of water and heat it in the microwave, let it cool a little and paint it with a kitchen brush.

Chef’s Recommendations

Leave to cool in the fridge and enjoy. If you prefer sugar for decoration, mix the sugar with ground cinnamon on a plate and roll them in it, they are also very tasty. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a spectacular dessert.
