Air Fryer Frozen Tequeños (Crispy from the Freezer)

Store-bought frozen tequeños turn golden and shatteringly crisp in the air fryer in under 10 minutes, with no thawing and no oil. A quick egg wash gives the pastry a bakery-shiny finish.
This is the shortcut for last-minute party snacks. For the from-scratch dough version, see our air fryer cheese tequeños.
Ingredients
Instructions
Brush
Beat the egg and brush it lightly over the frozen tequeños.
Arrange
Place them in the basket in a single layer, not touching.
First side
Air fry at 360°F for 4 minutes.
Flip and finish
Turn them over and cook another 4 to 5 minutes, until deep golden.
Serve
Let cool 2 minutes, since the cheese is molten, and serve with guasacaca, guacamole or a sweet dip.
- Cook from frozen; thawing makes the cheese leak.
- Leave space between them so the pastry crisps all around.
- Dip in garlic sauce, guasacaca or even guava jam.
