Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Sandwich

A classic grilled cheese with a golden, buttery crust and gooey cheddar center, made in the air fryer in about eight minutes. No flipping in a hot pan and no unevenly toasted sides.
It's the fastest comfort-food lunch there is and goes perfectly with a bowl of tomato soup. Swap in sourdough, American or provolone to make it your own.
Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F.
Butter
Brush melted butter on both sides of each bread slice.
Build
Divide the cheese between 2 slices and top with the other 2 slices to make 2 sandwiches.
Air fry
Place in the basket and cook 8 minutes, flipping halfway, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
Serve
Rest a minute, slice and serve hot.
- Shred the cheese yourself; it melts smoother than pre-shredded.
- If your bread is light, hold the top slice with a toothpick so it doesn't blow around.
- Mayonnaise brushed on the outside instead of butter gives an extra crisp crust.
